Read this recent C O Incident Report from
Seattle, WA, Weatherization Dept., and please consider seriously the questions I
inserted at the end of the E-mail exchanged on
this recent C O incident. Once
Again, two UL-2034 Listed C O alarms FAILED TO ALARM,
….. in this case, ….. Thank GOD, this Lady had a C O – Experts Low
Level C O “Health” Monitor that “SAVED HER LIFE” ! ! !
Hi George –
I finally heard back from the woman whose CO Experts monitor was the only one that alerted her to a high CO situation. They were First Alert and Nighthawk, although she did not supply model numbers.
Thank You.
The presence of TWO DIFFERENT BRANDS, a Kidde Nighthawk and a First Alert, simply points out even more strongly, that if it is “Listed” to UL-2034, ….. IT IS NOT GOING TO FULLY PROTECT YOU, ….. REGARDLESS of the BRAND NAME ! ! !

Subject: Life saved by CO monitor
Hi all – -- We got the email below from a client, who also happens to be environmentally sensitive and quite vulnerable. After weatherizing her home under the PSE Gas Weatherization Program, we had installed a “CO Experts” digital readout monitor with low-level sensitivity and alarm, per the program’s requirements. Since she already had two conventional monitors on the main floor, we installed this one upstairs. If I had any doubts about the importance of low level detection before, they are dispelled by this story.

Subject: Fw: request for report & thanks for CO Expert
Scott
and Bill,
I want to thank you for the CO Expert monitor. It woke me going fullblast
siren 3 a.m. Sunday night. Since the monitors downstairs weren't
registering anything and I couldn't understand the readout, I thought it might
not be a real finding and opened windows upstairs and went downstairs and slept
on the couch. Planned to call Puget Sound to check out early morning but
woke up with severe headache, vomiting, etc. and took me hrs to call them
because I was so sick and probably not thinking clearly. Turns out a piece
of the baffle in the hot water heater had broken off and was burning and causing
the carbon monoxide to shoot out at over 1,000 ppm. Without that upstairs
monitor, I probably wouldn't have associated the illness with carbon monoxide
until much later, if at all. I don’t know
what might have stopped the other meters from picking up a reading. After
the C O – Experts sounded off, I did open the windows
upstairs. Maybe that stopped the two alarms downstairs from sounding off,
but I don’t know why or how. So this monitor probably saved my life!!!!!!!!
I am a believer in the low-level monitors, needless to say.
All the best,
Nelma
An accurate, reliable, C O alarm may awaken you in a FRIGHT when it sounds an Alarm at 3 a.m., but it will prevent the FUNERAL that might have been necessary, if YOUR C O alarm had “Remained Silent”, like the two detectors in the Report above !
Is
your C O alarm WORKING ? …..
are you SURE ?
….. have you TESTED it lately
? ….. will it ALARM
SOON ENOUGH ? …..
at what PPM ? ….. after HOW LONG ?
YOU
ARE BETTING YOUR FAMILIES LIFE ON IT ! ! !
